When struggling playwright AJ Ilagan is at their lowest, their more successful ex-girlfriend Lucy comes back into their life with news: she’s been accepted into a Filipino-American theatre festival slated for this coming October. The catch? She submitted one of AJ’s plays, unbeknownst to them, and needs someone to help produce the show while she directs. Desperate to have their work put onstage, AJ agrees to come onboard, with the stipulation that their partner Shiv joins the team as the show’s dramaturg. This is a play about Asian-American theatre-makers, cultural peacocking, and the weird little incestuous bubble of dating your fellow artists.
